31 Malaysian Athletes At The SEA Games You Need To Watch Out For
kuala lumpur 2017

The real countdown to the 29th SEA Games Kuala Lumpur 2017 has begun – we’re merely days away from playing host to the biennial sporting event after a 16-year wait. As Kuala Lumpur becomes the central focus for athletic prowess and sporting feats in the region between 19 to 30 August 2017, our homegrown athletes are gearing up to realise a lofty ambition: Malaysia as overall champion of the Games.

In the spirit of our nation’s diamond jubilee Merdeka this month, here are 31 athletes we’re confident will raise the Jalur Gemilang up high:

1. Azizul Awang – Cycling

Our new world class indoor Velodrome is nearly complete and I've been given the honour to be the first person to test ride on it yesterday. Based on my experience of racing at many different velodromes all across the world, I proudly say that our very own new velodrome is one of the B E S T in the world. Can't wait to have my first competition on it and it's going to be in this upcoming Sea Games in August. I hope this will give the opportunity to all Malaysian and most importantly my supporters to watch me in action. Don't miss this opportunity guys! #brandnewvelodrome #velodrome #winningmentality #worldchampion #keirin #rainbowjersey #malaysia #teamazizul #azizulawang #MalaysiaBoleh #thepocketroketman #podiumprogram #takethepodium #trackcycling #velodrome #trackbike #fixedgear #trackisback #cycling #fixed #teammalaysia #olympic #team360 #teamthreesixtymgmt #mission2020

14. Julian Yee – Ice Skating

Another ISU World Championship completed. Had a good time and experience here in Helsinki. Quite happy with my performance overall, just wished the scores could've been better. As always, there is more to work on. Although coming from a country where figure skating or winter sports is not heard of, I strive my best to show that it is possible for us to excel in this sport. I couldn't have made it this far without all the support from my Family, Coaches, Friends, and Supporters. Not to forget @edeaskates & @mkblades! So I would like to thank them very much. One more qualifying round to go, and hopefully that will count! #WorldFigure #ISU #helsinki2017 #EdeaFamily #TeamMK #TeamMalaysia #TeamMAS #Mariposa 📸 : Antti Lehto
